Saudi Arabia, Turkey discuss normalising relations

23 March 2022; MEMO: Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, yesterday announced that he had "constructive discussions" with his Saudi counterpart Faisal Bin Farhan on bilateral relations.

"Met with foreign minister Faisal Bin Farhan of Saudi Arabia," Cavusoglu said on Twitter, adding that they had agreed to "work together to further develop our bilateral relations."

22 March 2022; MEMO: China is investing over $400 billion in nearly 600 projects across the Muslim world under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the Chinese Foreign Minister said on Tuesday, and Anadolu News Agency reports.

Speaking at the meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Foreign Ministers in Islamabad, Wang Yi said Beijing has close ties with the Muslim world, based on respect and mutual cooperation.

Egypt, UAE, Israel leaders meet in Sharm El-Sheikh

23 March 2022; MEMO: Egypt's President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and de facto ruler of the UAE, Mohammed Bin Zayed held a two-day summit in the Egyptian resort of Sharm El-Sheikh.

A statement issued by Bennett's office said: "The leaders discussed the ties between the three countries in the context of recent developments in the world and the region, and the ways to strengthen them on all levels."

Egyptian Prime Minister sets fixed price for unsubsidised bread

21 March 2022; MEMO: Egypt has set a fixed price for unsubsidised bread in an effort to counter rising food prices after Russia's invasion of Ukraine closed off access to lower-priced Black Sea wheat, Reuters reports.

Prime Minister, Moustafa Madbouly, on Monday, set the price of commercially sold bread at 11.50 Egyptian pounds ($0.66) per kg, his office said in a statement.

India: Opposition walks out of LS over fuel price hike

New Delhi, Mar 22 (PTI) Opposition parties protested in Lok Sabha on Tuesday against the increase in prices of fuel and cooking gas and staged a walkout demanding a rollback.

Raising the issue after Question Hour, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said the opposition parties had been claiming that the prices of diesel and petrol would increase after the election process.

Members of the Congress, TMC, NCP, DMK and Left parties raised slogans from their seats against the fuel price hike and demanded a rollback.

India: RBI cancels license of Kanpur-based People's Cooperative Bank Ltd

Kanpur: The Reserve Bank of India said it has cancelled the license of Kanpur-based People's Co-operative Bank Limited on Monday.

The reason is that the bank does not have adequate capital and earning prospects.

The Reserve Bank of India vide order dated March 17, 2022, has cancelled the license of People's Co-operative Bank Limited, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Accordingly, the bank ceases to carry on banking business, with effect from the close of business on March 21, 2022.

India Rs slumps 26 paise to 76.10 against USD in early trade

Mumbai, Mar 21 (PTI) The rupee declined 26 paise to 76.10 against the US dollar in opening trade on Monday, following its Asian peers after crude oil prices and the American dollar reversed their recent declines.

Iran aiming for 1.4 mln bpd crude exports

20 March 2022; MEMO: Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji said in televised remarks on Saturday that he will try to raise Iran's oil and condensates exports to 1.4 million barrels per day as set out in an annual state budget, Reuters reported.

"In parliament, lawmakers decided to raise the ceiling of exports of oil and condensates from 1.2 million barrels (per day) to 1.4 million barrels. The Oil Ministry will do everything in its power to realise the level set in the budget," Owji told state television.
