News Analysis: Experts see no quick solutions to U.S. sanctions

MOSCOW, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- With the United States recklessly wielding its sanctions on a number of countries of late, Russia has quickly responded by strengthening cooperation with other nations such as Iran and Turkey.

Though the active interactions enable Moscow to establish closer ties externally, no major changes can be expected until fundamental problems are resolved, Russian experts said.

New report: Myanmar army killed over 24,000 Rohingya

LONDON 19 Aug 2018; AA: More than 24,000 Rohingya Muslims have been killed by Myanmar’s state forces since August 2017, according to a new report.

The figures were revealed in the report -- Forced Migration of Rohingya: The Untold Experience -- released by the Ontario International Development Agency, which involved researchers and organizations from Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, Norway and the Philippines.

Report: 2 billion people live in poverty - Turkey the largest aid donor

ANKARA; 19 Aug 2018; AA: Two billion people are living in poverty while 753 million others experience extreme poverty and are struggling to survive, according to the Global Humanitarian Assistance Report 2018.

The situation of helpless people suffering from famine, drought, clashes and natural disasters has come up as the World Humanitarian Day, marked each year on Aug. 19, approaches.

Over 300 "predator priests" accused of sexually abusing children in U.S. Pennsylvania

WASHINGTON, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- More than 300 "predator priests" from six Catholic dioceses across eastern U.S. state of Pennsylvania have been accused of sexually abusing over 1,000 children, according to a new grand jury report released Tuesday.

The report, issued by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, detailed a "systematic coverup by senior church officials in Pennsylvania and at the Vatican" over more than six decades, State Attorney General Josh Shapiro said at a news conference on Tuesday.

Turkish President Erdogan unveils 100-day action plan

ANKARA; AA; President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday unveiled first 100-day action plan of Turkey's new presidential Cabinet in the capital Ankara.

"Today, we share our first 100-day action plan with you," Erdogan said at the presentation meeting at the presidential complex.

Erdogan said they are planning to announce Medium-Term Program by the end of August.
