AMSTERDAM (AP) — The European Medicines Agency says it is evaluating whether to authorize booster doses of Johnson & Johnson’s single-shot COVID-19 vaccine.

In a statement Monday, the EU drug regulator said it was considering an application from J&J to recommend booster doses of the J&J vaccine for adults 18 and over, at least two months after they were first immunized. Amid an explosive surge of new coronavirus infections across Europe, the EMA said it expected to make a decision on this within weeks.

THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) — Police arrested seven rioters in The Hague on Saturday night after youths set fires in the streets and threw fireworks at officers. The unrest came a day after police opened fire on protesters in Rotterdam amid what the port city’s mayor called “an orgy of violence” that broke out at a protest against coronavirus restrictions.

Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb told reporters in the early hours of Saturday morning that “on a number of occasions the police felt it necessary to draw their weapons to defend themselves” as rioters ran rampage through the port city’s central shopping district, setting fires and throwing rocks and fireworks at officers.

The ceremonial head of Carnival celebrations in Germany’s Cologne had to bow out because he tested positive for COVID-19. And Austria is considering imposing a lockdown on unvaccinated people.

AMSTERDAM, Nov 9 (Reuters) - A group of hospitals in the southern Dutch province of Limburg on Tuesday called for the government to take new measures to stem rising COVID-19 cases, saying they have no space or staff to handle more coronavirus patients.

Coronavirus infections in the Netherlands, as in other parts of Europe, are approaching all-time highs despite adult vaccination levels around 85%.

AMSTERDAM, Nov 8 (Reuters) - Relatives of the 298 people who died when a Malaysia Airlines jet was shot down over Ukraine in 2014 on Monday asked judges presiding over the Dutch murder trial looking at the crash to provide clarity over the alleged role of Russia in the incident.

Piet Ploeg, whose brother, sister-in-law and nephew died in the crash, told judges to look specifically at Russia's role in the Ukraine conflict.

HAGUE, November 5. / TASS /: The Dutch Supreme Court has overturned the judgement, ruled by the Hague Court of Appeal, regarding Russia’s payment of more than $50 bln to ex-Yukos shareholders and has ordered to review the case, the court stated on Friday.

"The Supreme Court quashed the appeal court’s final judgement as well as the court’s preceding judgement. The case has been referred to the Amsterdam Court of Appeal for renewed judgement on this ground," the statement reads.

THE HAGUE, Oct 28 (Reuters) - Lawyers who represent the families of 298 people who died when a Malaysia Airlines jet was shot down over Ukraine in 2014, are being intimidated and have been offered protective measures, Dutch broadcaster RTL reported on Thursday.

Several members of the team of lawyers, representing the families in the ongoing Flight MH17 Dutch murder trial of three Russians and a Ukrainian citizen, reported being followed home from the court building or seeing suspicious men checking out their home addresses, the RTL report said.

THE HAGUE (Reuters) - Dutch authorities are investigating 33 suspected deaths of people who bought a "suicide powder" from a member of a right-to-die group in the Netherlands, prosecutors said on Wednesday.

The number of cases surfaced in procedural hearings ahead of a possible trial of several members of the group calling itself Cooperative Last Will. The number is expected to rise after another member of the group told a newspaper he had sold the powder to more than a hundred people.

AMSTERDAM, October 26. /TASS/: Crimean museums have the option of filing an appeal to the Supreme Court of the Netherlands against the decision on the Scythian gold, the lawyer for the Crimean museums Rob Meijer reported on Tuesday. 

"Luckily, the court has not gone as far as to order the enforcement of its own judgment, which will depend on whether or not Crimean museums will go to Dutch Supreme Court. That possibility is still there," he said.
