According to the Global Humanitarian Assistance Report 2018, released on 19 August – the World Humanitarian Day; Turkey was found to be the largest humanitarian aid donor providing $8.07 billion.
Turkey was followed by USA with $6.68 billion and UK with $2.52 billion.
Turkey also topped the donors list based on countries' gross national income, with a score of 0.85. Norway and Luxembourg with a proportion of 0.17 percent each followed turkey.
Turkey provided about one-third of 2017's global humanitarian aid and is considered the 'most generous country’.
Turkey is making real efforts to give a helping hand to everyone in need of humanitarian aid, both within the country and worldwide. With 61 offices in 59 countries, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) is reaching out to oppressed regions worldwide with humanitarian assistance.
Turkey also hosted The World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul in May 2016 for the first time in history.
According to the Report 2018, at least 201 million people in 134 countries were in need of humanitarian assistance to survive in 2017, and the total humanitarian aid provided by various countries was $27.3 billion.
