Kanpur: Jajmau is a fast growing town both in terms of population and business. It is still famed as leather hub, though much of its work has shifted to Unnao side and other areas. But Jajmau is still synonymous with leather.The tanneries were so big as the work used to be done inside its precincts.
With passing of days the shops were spread particularly from Nai Chungi to the road turning towards Galla Godam. If we look at simply the length of the road, it is neiher good nor wide enough. On both the sides of the road there remains usual traffic jam with visible encroachments.
There are at various places the roads have been dug up under the Namami Gangey project. This has narrowed the width of the road and even dangerous too. Accidents are too common sights on this VIP road.
There are a lot more examples. However, one latest is that: one little girl was injured in a mishap on the road and the people rushed to the spot for her safety on Thursday morning. She was supposed to be on way to her school. Her mother was seen consoling her. She was also appearing too much concerned towards the little ward by this sudden accident.
Another example: Yesterday afternoon there was a roadways city bus, coming from its originating point at Nai Chungi, stood abruptly in slanting position thereby blocking enough space on the road. The vehicle riders anyhow managed to move forward in little space. One scooty rider was ovérheard saying this big bus was trying to enter the spacious marriage ground situated on one side of the road.
The condition of the road is also not satisfactory as the surface is mostly uneven. The difficult times are ahead for us as the monsoon has already set in.
One disturbed pedestrian told how can one manage driving when the footwalk becomes impossible. The side walk space does not appear.
Several indicated that the traffic rush cannot lessen on this road because this road connects Unnao side, Allahabadi side and straight road links JK Colon, Sanjay Nagar and other areas here. Heavy vehicles and light vehicles both run on this road.
The days weekly markets are held in Ram Rai Ki Sarai lane the crowd surges more on the road. A resident Salman rued that the pollution increases with the rush of the vehicles and crowd of the people on the market days causes noise pollution.
Most of the residents prefer to come on the road during the morning hours and the night hours. The rush diminishes in the night and the driving remains safe and comfortable. That is why people come on the road for the morning walk. When the morning walkers were asked how do they feel in the morning, they said we are habitual walkers so we feel quite at ease in the morning.
