TASS, August 28. The Saudi-led coalition carried out a series of strikes on the international airport in Yemen’s capital of Sana’a, Al Masirah TV channel reported on Tuesday.
The air strikes targeted more than ten facilities, including a military air base located near the airport, according to the report.
Sky News Arabiya TV channel reported that the alliance carried out 11 strikes on the Houthi rebels’ positions. The coalition’s aircraft continue intense flights over the Yemeni capital.
According to Al Masirah, the strikes on Sana’a came after the Houthi (Ansar Allah) movement attacked Dubai’s international airport with a drone. The United Arab Emirates General Civil Aviation Authority denied the report saying that the operations were unaffected.
The confrontation between the government forces and the Houthi rebels has been ongoing in Yemen since August 2014. It entered the most active phase in March 2015, when the Saudi Arabia-led coalition invaded the country.
The Storm of Resolve operation against the Houthis, who had established control over a significant part of the territory, was backed by Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, and was later joined by Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Pakistan and Sudan.
