Tehran, Jan 13, IRNA - Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi while denouncing the Polish authorities for hosting an anti-Iran summit reminded them to pay a visit to Iran-Poland Friendship Symbol in Warsaw.
In an interview with Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Sunday, Qasemi commenting on the anti-Iran conference in Poland said, “It seems Poland is influenced by the machinations and pressures by the US to be in the direction of the White House behavior and anti-Iranian policies.”
He referred to hosting such a meeting against Iran as a wrong move and contrary to international law.
Qasemi said, “The track record of animosity of the current US official against the Iranians is not a matter of secrecy and is based on some information received on the goals of the conference.
The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry stated, 'We believe that the Polish government's move to host the conference is a false, inaccurate, and unacceptable decision, and we believe that it is contrary to the positions that we have witnessed in recent years from the European Union's states concerning relations with Iran.'
“The text of the invitation, signed jointly by the US and Polish foreign ministers, shows that the country has adopted a different approach to the whole of the European Union towards Iran,” the official held.
He added that holding this meeting could be seen as a kind of American effort to create divisions among the EU members towards Iran reiterating that the United States was trying to undermine the relations and efforts the Union takes to maintain its relations with Iran in this way.
Qasemi warned that the reaction of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the action would be very serious, “Poland should be responsive to the consequences of this hosting, and accept responsibility for the future consequences of participation and hosting of a conference against an independent state unless, ultimately, the Polish government changes the direction of the meeting in a way other than what its invitations point to in a wise move.'
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo earlier announced plans to hold a meeting with focus on Iran on February 13-14.
He claimed that countries from Asia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East will participate in this meeting.
The meeting will be held in line with US efforts to promote Iranophobia scenario.
Earlier on Friday, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a post on his Twitter page wrote, “Reminder to host/participants of anti-Iran conference: those who attended last US anti-Iran show are dead, disgraced, or marginalized. And Iran is stronger than ever.'
He added, “Polish Gov't can't wash the shame: while Iran saved Poles in WWII, it now hosts desperate anti-Iran circus.'
