Bandar Abbas, Feb 17, IRNA – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Sunday that Tehran is after cordial and brotherly relations in the Persian Gulf region.
President Rouhani made the remarks while addressing a gathering in the city of Bandar Lengeh in the Persian Gulf Province of Hormuzgan southern Iran.
“We’ve never started any aggression in the entire region,” said the president adding that Iran has told the neighbors that will repulses any attack and will defeat the enemies.
He went on to say that those in the region who think the United States and Zionist regime of Israel will provide security for them have surely miscalculated.
“Regional security will be settled by the regional countries,” the Iranian president said, calling for ensuring regional security through unity and solidarity.
“Unfortunately, some neighbors have chosen the wrong path,” said Rouhani, adding they have solicited security from the United States and the Zionist regime.
That Iran has coveted [the region] is the wrong thought because Tehran is after cordial relations with all regional countries, he said.
He further urged the Iranian people not to be scared of the enemies’ pressures as the US and the Zionists are in vein after polarizing the people and making them separated from the government and the establishment.
Elsewhere in his speech, the president talked of the Feb 12 terrorist attack on the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) forces in southeast Iran, saying Iran does not let the terrorists who are financially being supported from “other places” be active in the region.
Such attacks greatly encourage Iran to more strongly counter terrorism, said President Rouhani.
Iranian president along with a number of his cabinet members arrived in Hormuzgan Province on Sunday morning for a two-day visit.
