Kanpur: The neighbour killed a municipal sanitation worker by stabbing him with a knife when he protested against molestation in Govind Nagar Kachi Basti.
During the beating of the sweeper, the killers also pelted stones at the relatives who came to save him.
The police reached after the information and investigated. Sanjan (35), a resident of Govind Nagar Kachi Basti, was a sanitation worker in the Municipal Corporation.
Brother Kamal told that the neighbour living in his relationship often molested his niece. On Tuesday night at around 10 pm, Vishal was commenting on his niece in a drunken state.
Sanjay objected to this. Angered by this, Vishal and his brothers Shiva, Ashu, cousin Avinash, Ayush, Bhola, Sahil and Bhola's wife Kusuma beat Sanjay with sticks.
Vishal made several knife stabs at Sanjay's neck, hands and waist. This led him seriously injured. Somehow, he was taken to Hallet hospital here. The doctors declared him brought dead.
The killer Vishal, along with the family, beat up the sweeper Sanjay (35) with kicks and bribes. Later he was put to death by stabbing him with a knife in ten to12 minutes.
When the family members came to save, Vishal along with the family threw stones at them too. Meanwhile, Sanjay lying on the road continued to suffer.
When the accused stopped stone pelting, the family members rushed to the hospital but his life could not be saved due to excessive bleeding.
Family members say that if he had gotten treatment in time, his life might have been saved.
