KUALA LUMPUR, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's inflation rate, as measured by the consumer price index (CPI), remained unchanged at 4 percent in November, official data showed Friday.
Inflation for the food group increased 7.3 percent and remained as the main contributor to the rise in the inflation for the month, the Department of Statistics Malaysia said in a statement.
Meanwhile, restaurants and hotels inflation edged up to 7 percent as against 6.8 percent in October.
A slower increase was recorded for the transport group at 5 percent, and furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance at 3.8 percent.
Core inflation, which measures changes in the prices of all goods and services without taking into account the volatile prices of fresh food as well as administered prices of goods by the government, registered an increase of 4.2 percent in November compared to the same month of the previous year.
For the period from January to November, the inflation increased by 3.4 percent as compared to 2.3 percent for the same period of 2021.
On a monthly basis, the inflation in November recorded an increase of 0.3 percent as compared to 0.2 percent in October.
