Kanpur: The Graduate and Teacher MLC elections held on Monday saw less turnout this time as compared to the last poll in Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat and Unnao.
There has been a decrease of 17.21 percent in graduate elections and 2.71 percent in teacher elections.
A total of 40.93 percent voters cast votes on graduate seat and 68 percent voters on teacher seat.
The reason for the higher vote percentage in the teachers MLC is that its voters are less than the graduate voters, as reported.
At one booth in Bidhnu, there was a slight debate over taking photographs of the ballot paper.
There are 10 candidates for graduate and nine candidates for teacher MLC. The counting of votes will be completed on February 2.
A total of two lakh 27 thousand voters exercised their right for both the elections. Some of the voters faced problems as their family members were in the voters list at different polling stations.
Two observers were deputed by the Election Commission to monitor the entire polling.
The district administration arranged every possible efforts to help conduct the polls peacefully.
