2 Mar 2023; MEMO: The Arab Parliament condemned on Wednesday Israeli Jewish settler violence against Palestinians and called for the UN Security Council to include "settler militias" on its terrorist lists. The parliament has representatives from 22 countries.
"We express strong condemnation of the acts of violence committed by settler militias against the Palestinians in the town of Huwara and across the occupied West Bank," said the parliament. "Terrorising defenceless Palestinian citizens has become a systematic policy for the settlers, and failure to deter them and hold them accountable encourages them to continue their crimes, including shooting, burning homes and vehicles, and forcing farmers off Palestinian land."
On Tuesday, two Palestinians were injured in an attack by Jewish settlers, and 50 olive trees were damaged in the occupied West Bank, reported Wafa. Several Palestinian villages in the vicinity of Nablus, in the northern West Bank, have witnessed unprecedented attacks by Israeli settlers since Sunday.
Israeli settler violence has escalated in the occupied West Bank since the start of the year, including East Jerusalem. Dozens of Palestinians have been killed, and hundreds have been wounded.
The parliament called on the international community and the UN Security Council to take immediate action to stop the repeated attacks by settlers.
