Czech PM, Zelensky discuss further aid, Ukraine's reconstruction

PRAGUE, July 7 (Xinhua) -- Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala and visiting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday discussed further aid and the reconstruction of Ukraine.

Fiala confirmed that the Czech Republic will donate additional attack helicopters and more pieces of large-caliber ammunition to Ukraine. The Czech Republic will also help Ukraine with pilot training, the Czech government said in a statement.

According to Fiala, the Czech Republic has already sent 676 pieces of heavy equipment and over 4 million pieces of medium and large-caliber ammunition to Ukraine.

The two leaders also discussed the reconstruction of Ukraine after the conflict and the involvement of Czech companies.

A 30-member delegation of Czech representatives of the energy, healthcare and transport sectors will visit Ukraine next week, according to the statement. The Czech Republic also plans to support the involvement of its companies in the reconstruction of Ukraine in the form of export insurance.

Fiala and Zelensky also discussed Ukraine's prospects of European Union (EU) and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) membership, and the agenda of the upcoming NATO summit in Vilnius, Lithuania.

Zelensky arrived in Prague on Thursday evening. On Friday, he also met the heads of the Czech Senate and the Chamber of Deputies.
