DJAMENA, Nov 7 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Chad says it has recalled its Chargé d’Affaires in Israel for consultation over “unprecedented deadly violence in the Gaza Strip”.
In a statement from the country’s foreign affairs ministry, the government condemned “the loss of human lives of many innocent civilians” and called “for a ceasefire leading to a lasting solution to the Palestinian question”.
In 1972, Chad, a Muslim-majority country severed its diplomatic relations with Israel but later revived ties in 2019.
N’DJAMENA, Aug 16 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Niger’s military-appointed prime minister made an unannounced visit to neighbouring Chad as West African states set talks for mulling possible military intervention to reverse his country’s coup and the United States and Russia urged a diplomatic solution to the crisis.
Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine, a civilian appointed by the military rulers who ousted Nigerien President Mohamed Bazoum on July 26, arrived in Chad for a “working visit,” the Chadian government said on Facebook.
N’DJAMENA, March 2 (NNN-NEWVISION) — Clashes between herders and farmers in Chad on Tuesday left 11 people dead, a senior local official said.
The conflict between the two communities 600 kilometres east of the capital N’Djamena began Monday near the city of Mangalme following the theft of cattle, the official said, asking not to be named.
In August, 22 people were killed in similar fighting between farmers and herders 500 kilometres south of N’Djamena.

N’DJAMENA, Aug 24 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Chad reintroduced rules making it obligatory to wear face masks in public spaces and observe social-distancing as the number of coronavirus cases rises again in one of the world’s least-developed countries, the health ministry said.
“In view of the epidemiological situation of the Covid-19 pandemic both worldwide and in Chad in particular… all preventative measures against disease, particular mask-wearing and social-distancing, must be adhered to,” the ministry said in a statement.
