50,000 graduates, 28,000 post graduates and 3,700 PhDs apply for 62 Peon vacancies

Telecom Department of Uttar Pradesh Police has received more than 81,000 job applications for 62 peon vacancies. Applicants include about 50,000 graduates, 28,000 post graduates and 3,700 PhDs.

According to a report in India Today, the minimum eligibility for peon post in UP police is class 5 pass (primary school), and the starting salary is Rs 20,000. But the huge number of applicants and their qualifications had the department puzzled, resulting postponement of the recruitment process.

According to The Live Mirror, “the opposition party of the state hit out on the Yogi Adityanath led government for their failure to increase the employment despite having such highly qualified citizens in the state.”

“The CM had earlier complained that UP has very small amount of qualified people and that education in the state was a big issue.”, reported The Live Mirror.
