SANAA, March 14 (Xinhua) -- A farmer was killed by a Saudi Arabia-led coalition airstrike that hit a farm in Yemen's northeastern province of al-Jawf on Saturday, the Houthi-run al-Masirah TV reported.
The alleged airstrike targeted the farm in al-Hazm city, the capital of al-Jawf province, the report said, without providing more details.
There was no immediate comment from the coalition, which intervened in the Yemeni conflict in March 2015 to support the internationally-recognized Yemeni government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
The Houthis seized control of al-Hazm two weeks ago following weeks of battles with the coalition-backed government forces.
However, the fighting around the city has since been raging on, forcing thousands of families to flee their homes to the nearby government-controlled Marib province.
UN envoy Martin Griffiths has urged the Yemeni parties to resume the political process, warning that this escalation in al-Jawf could drag Yemen downward into "a new and irresponsible cycle of violence."
Yemen has been mired in a civil war since late 2014, when the Iran-backed Houthis seized control of much of the country's north and forced the Saudi-backed government out of the capital Sanaa.
