KANPUR: Long-lasting controversy over construction of the hockey turf between the Nagar Nigam and the Sports Directorate at Green Parks seems to end now.
The Divisional Commissioner's recent inspection of Green Park has brought new expectation. Though the Kanpur Municipal Corporation sanctioned an amount of Rs 2 crores for the astroturf. The construction work got put off on account of variation in the ground size.
The Commissioner Subhash Chandra Sharma has directed the regional sports officer A K Sethi to move in this direction. A proposal to this effect was also being prepared. Vacant space in front of the Boys' Hostel could be developed for better utilization.
