ROME, March 23 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — Anti-drug forces of the Arma de Carabinieri of Italy dismantled an international drug trafficking network operating in the north of the country, as a result of investigations started in 2018, a statement says.
A note published Wednesday on the official site of that gendarmerie corps, indicates that the operations were coordinated by the Prosecutor’s Office of Venice, and participated in the same carabinieri of the commands of Ferrara, Padua, Prato and Vicenza, who managed to occupy a shipment of marijuana, hashish, ketamine and ecstasy.
Four drug traffickers of Chinese origin were captured as a result of the operation. They purchased large quantities of drugs of various types in Spain, which were then distributed from Italy, via international parcels and other routes, to the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and the United States.
Previously, on Jan 10 last, Italian anti-narcotics forces carried out in the northern provinces of Padua, Milan and Brescia the operation Hermanos, which led to the capture of 18 people involved in drug trafficking.
The investigations, led by the Padua Public Prosecutor’s Office, led to the dismantling of a drug trafficking network and the seizure of large quantities of cocaine, hashish and marijuana.
