PARIS (AP) — French President Emmanuel Macron is to unveil Wednesday the country’s military strategy through the end of the decade for his nuclear-armed country, in the midst of Russia’s war in Ukraine.

Macron is to make a speech on the Dixmude helicopter carrier, docked in the Mediterranean military base of Toulon, which is home to more than 24,000 troops. He will then be airlifted to France’s newest nuclear attack submarine, the Suffren, before meeting with some elite Navy commando members.

PARIS, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Today's energy crisis is causing profound and long-lasting changes that have the potential to hasten the transition to a more sustainable and secure energy system, according to World Energy Outlook 2022 published by the International Energy Agency (IEA) on Thursday.

The biggest tremors of the energy crisis have been felt in the markets for natural gas, coal and electricity, with significant turmoil in oil markets as well. With unrelenting geopolitical and economic concerns, energy markets remain extremely vulnerable, said the Outlook.

PARIS, Oct 23 (Reuters) - Britain's destiny lies in Europe and the country had been sold "a sort of mirage" with Brexit, said European Union industry chief Thierry Breton on Sunday, as he commented on the political turmoil currently afflicting the UK.

"They had been sold a sort of mirage. Clearly its destiny is Europe," French politician Breton, who is the European Commissioner for the Internal Market, told RTL radio.

New Delhi, Oct 21 (PTI) Pakistan has been taken off from the grey list of the FATF, the global watchdog on terror financing and money laundering, four years after the country was put in the infamous categorisation.

Significantly, for the first time, the FATF put Myanmar in the "high risk jurisdictions subject to a call for action", often referred to as the watchdog's black list.

PARIS/BRUSSELS, Oct 19 (Reuters) - European Union governments will agree to impose new sanctions on Iranian generals and entities over the use of Iranian-made drones in Russian strikes on Ukraine, four diplomats and a French official said on Wednesday.

Ukraine has reported a spate of Russian attacks using Iranian-made Shahed-136 drones in recent weeks. Iran denies supplying drones to Russia, while the Kremlin has not commented.

PARIS, Oct 14 (Reuters) - European foreign ministers will on Monday discuss the transfer of Iranian drones to Russia and could come to a political agreement on future sanctions related to such activity, two diplomats said on Friday.
