India: President Kovind to stay in Kanpur on Nov 24 & 25

Kanpur: The municipal corporation has started to shine the routes through which the convoy of President will pass.

The President of India Ram Nath Kovind will stay here on November 24 and 25. 

In a spot inspection on Sunday the Nagar Ayukt Shivsaran Aiyappa GN found various anomalies. He ordered authorities to rectify the encroachments, insanitation scattered all around the roads and footpaths. 

India: Students fail norm of discipline after school gets over

Kanpur: In the morning hours the students look in discipline but after school is over a kind of indiscipline surrounds them. They are seen standing in groups on the not so wide road and cause problems.

This spectacle remains noticeable at the front side of a very posh school here. Why do they become so indisciplined?

They appear to be relaxed moving out of the school gate. They indulge in conversation, pass remarks and giggle, spare little space for the moving vehicles despite continuous horns.

Indian Troops Kill 26 Rebels In Maharashtra State

NEW DELHI, Nov 14 (NNN-PTI) – At least 26 armed rebels, known as Naxals, were killed, in an encounter with the Indian security forces, in the south-western Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district, yesterday, local media reported.

Four security personnel were also injured in the gunfight, that took place in the Mardintola forest area.

“So far, bodies of 26 Naxals have been recovered from the forest,” media reports quoted a top police official as saying.

Smog chokes Indian capital as air pollution levels soar

The city’s air quality index fell into the “very poor” category on Sunday, according to SAFAR, India’s main environmental monitoring agency, and in many areas levels of the deadly particulate matter reached around six times the global safety threshold.

NASA satellite imagery also showed most of India’s northern plains covered by thick haze.

India: Cow urine and dung can strengthen economy: MP CM

Bhopal, Nov 13 (PTI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Saturday said the cow as well as its dung and urine can strengthen an individual's economy and make the country financially capable.

The government has developed cow sanctuaries and shelters but it will not work alone and requires participation of society, he said at 'Shakti 2021', a convention of women veterinarians organised by Indian Veterinary Association.

Indian Army Chief Gen Naravane leaves for Israel on 5-day visit

New Delhi, Nov 14 (PTI) Army Chief General MM Naravane on Sunday left for Israel on a five-day visit to further strengthen India's defence and security cooperation with the Jewish state.

The visit by the Army chief comes weeks after External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Defence Secretary Ajay Kumar travelled to Israel to explore ways to boost strategic ties.

In August, then air chief marshal R K S Bhadauria had also travelled to Israel.

India: Teltumbde among 26 Naxal terrorists killed in Maha: police

Mumbai, Nov 14 (PTI) Top Maoist leader Milind Teltumbde was among the 26 Naxals killed in an encounter with police in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district, a senior police official said on Sunday.

The gun-battle took place on Saturday at Korchi in Mardintola forest area of the district, located over 900 km from Mumbai, when a C-60 police commando team was conducting a search operation, police earlier said.

India: Naxal terrorists kill four in Bihar accusing them of being police

Gaya (Bihar), Nov 14 (PTI) Four persons of a family, including two women, were killed by Maoists who blew up their house in a remote village of this district and hung them from a cattle shed in the courtyard, a top police officer said.

According to ADG, Law and Order, the incident took place in Dumariya police station area, close to the Bihar-Jharkhand area, where members of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist) attacked the house of Saryu Singh Bhokta late Saturday night.

India: Super-Speciality blocks of 200 beds at 6 medical colleges in UP

Kanpur: Six medical colleges in the state have been provided with super-speciality blocks of 200 beds under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana.

Reportedly, each of these blocks has been built at a cost of around ₹300 crores.

Notably, these super-speciality blocks were launched in certain cities including Jhansi and Prayagraj earlier as well.

Even though the functioning of these blocks was affected by the lack of specialist doctors, these units are all set to run again.
