Indian Polls: BSP state gen secy, 16 others join Congress in Jammu

Jammu, March 26 (PTI) BSP state general secretary A S Mottan and 16 others, including retired officers, sarpanches and social activists, joined the Congress here Tuesday in the presence of Jammu and Kashmir Congress chief and former tourism minister Gulam Ahmed Mir.

Mottan was accompanied by his supporters, who joined the Congress too at an event at the party's headquarters in Shahidi Chowk.

India: Army personnel killed in LoC firing by Pakistan

Jammu, Mar 24 (PTI) An Army personnel was killed on Sunday in firing by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, officials said.

They said the cross-border firing started in Shahpur and Kerni areas of Poonch around 5.30 pm Saturday and it continued intermittently through the night.

Kashmiri killed by Indian security forces in Shopian

Srinagar, 23 Mar 2019; A Kashmiri separatist by Indian security forces on Friday in an alleged in Shopian district of the Indian controlled Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.

According to a PTI report; the Indian security forces have alleged that a cordon and search operation in Imamsahib area of Shopian in south Kashmir following information about presence of Kashmiri separatist there, an Indian army official said.

2 Kashmiris killed, 3 troopers wounded in Indian-controlled Kashmir

Two Kashmiri separatists were killed by Indian security forces in what has been alleged as a fierce gunfight in restive India-controlled Kashmir, police said on Friday. Three Indian security forces’ personnel were also injured.

The gunfight broke out Thursday morning at village Kalantara Kandi in Baramulla district, about 47 km west of Srinagar city, the summer capital of India-controlled Kashmir.

Indian CRPF jawan kills 3 colleagues in J-K

New Delhi, Mar 20 (PTI) Three CRPF personnel were killed Wednesday after a colleague allegedly fired at them after an altercation at their camp in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.

The alleged fratricide incident happened at around 10 pm when constable Ajit Kumar shot three of his colleagues from his service rifle at the 187th battalion camp of the force in the Battal Ballian area in Udhampur, they said.

Indian soldier killed as Pak army violates ceasefire

Jammu, Mar 21 (PTI) An Army soldier was killed when Pakistan violated the ceasefire by heavily shelling forward areas and posts along the Line of Control with mortar bombs in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district Thursday, officials said.

Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire in Keri belt of Sunderbani sector this morning, they said.

One soldier was was killed in Pakistani firing, they added.

Pakistani troops have violated the ceasefire over 110 times along the LoC since January.

Kashmir: Omar demands punishment for teacher's custodial death

Srinagar, Mar 19; PTI/GANASHAKTI:  National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah on Tuesday demanded a time-bound investigation into the custodial death of a school teacher in Jammu and Kashmir and exemplary punishment to those responsible for the death.

"I had hoped custodial deaths were a thing of our dark past. This is an unacceptable development & must be investigated in a transparent, time bound manner. Exemplary punishment must be handed out to the killers of this young man," Abdullah tweeted.

Indian Polls: PDP to contest all six LS seats in J-K

Jammu, Mar 19 (PTI) The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti Tuesday dismissed reports of an alliance with the Congress and said the party is preparing to contest all the six Lok Sabha seats in Jammu and Kashmir.

"We are preparing to contest all the six seats," Mehbooba told reporters late Tuesday night.

Dismissing media reports of parleys with the Congress party on an alliance, she said, "We had no talks with Congress (on alliance). It is mere speculation. If they want to have an alliance with the NC, that is there internal matter".

Indian army soldie killed, 3 others injured in J-K's Rajouri

Jammu, Mar 18 (PTI) An Army soldier was killed and three others injured as Pakistan violated the ceasefire for the second consecutive day along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district on Monday, officials said.

The incident occurred in Keri Battal forward area and further details are awaited, they said.

Kashmir: IAS Shah Faesal launched his political party

Srinagar; 17 March 2019: Former IAS officer Shah Faesal has launched his political party the 'Jammu and Kashmir Peoples' Movement,' today.

Former Vice-President of the JNU Students' Union (JNUSU), Shehla Rashid, also joined Faesal’s party.

According to The Hindu, scores of supporters from different parts of the Valley attended the launch of the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Movement (JKPM), whose slogan is “Hawa Badlegi” (winds of time will change).
