Two Kashmiris killed by Indian security forces in Shopian

Srinagar, 27 Feb 2019: Two Kashmiri separatists were killed on Wednesday by Indian security forces in Shopian district of Indian administered Jammu and Kashmir.

Indian Security forces alleged that they launched a cordon and search operation in Meemendar area of Shopian following information about presence of separatists there, the officials said.

It has been alleged that the search operation turned into a gun fight after separatists opened fire towards the Indian security forces, which retaliated. The two militants were killed in the gunfight.

Pakistan violates Indian air space in Nowshera

Jammu, Feb 27 (PTI) Pakistani fighter jets Wednesday violated Indian air space in Nowshera sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district but were pushed back by Indian aircraft, a top official said.

"The jets entered into Indian air space over Nowshera sector this morning," the official said.

They were immediately pushed back by Indian jets on air patrol.

India: Srinagar, Jammu, Leh airports closed for civilian air traffic

Srinagar, Feb 27 (PTI) Srinagar, Jammu and Leh airports were Wednesday closed for civilian air traffic shortly after an IAF jet crashed in Budgam district and amid escalation of cross-Line of Control shelling between armies of India and Pakistan.

"The civilian air traffic has been suspended temporarily in view of the emergency," an official of the Airport Authority of India told PTI.

India: 150 people, most from Jamaat-e-Islami, detained in JK

Srinagar, Feb 23 (PTI) Nearly 150 people, mainly from the Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir including its chief Abdul Hamid Fayaz, were detained during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday as tension gripped the Valley ahead of a hearing by the Supreme Court on Article 35A of the Constitution.

Though police termed the detentions as routine saying that leaders and potential stone pelters have been picked up in the past, officials privy to the developments said this is the first major crackdown on the Jamaat-e-Islamia.

India: 2 Kasmiris killed by Indian security forces in Baramulla

Srinagar, Feb 22 2018: Two Kasmiri separatists were killed by Indian security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district on Friday, J&K police said.

Indian security forces claim to have launched a cordon and search operation in Warpora area of Sopore, in north Kashmir, acting on specific information about the presence of Kasmiri separatists

As reported by PTI, police claimed that two Kasmiri separatists were killed in the gun battle.

The identity of the killed separatists is yet to be ascertained.

Mobile internet services restored in Kashmir

Srinagar, Feb 17 (PTI) Mobile internet services were restored in Kashmir on Sunday, a day after they were suspended as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order, officials said.

High speed mobile internet was restored across Kashmir Valley on Sunday night, the officials said.

They said the services were restored as the situation remained peaceful in the Valley.
