Hungary, Austria not to ship weapons to Ukraine, Defense Ministers confirm

BUDAPEST, January 30. /TASS/: Hungary and Austria will not send weapons to Ukraine and would like to prevent the escalation of the ongoing conflict, Kristof Szalay-Bobrovniczky said after the talks with his Austrian counterpart Klaudia Tanner in Budapest Monday.

Hungary will veto EU sanctions on Russian nuclear energy, PM Orban says

BUDAPEST, Jan 27 (Reuters) - Hungary will veto any European Union sanctions against Russia affecting nuclear energy, Prime Minister Viktor Orban told state radio on Friday.

Ukraine has called on the 27-nation EU to include Russian state nuclear energy company Rosatom in sanctions but Hungary, which has a Russian-built nuclear plant it plans to expand with Rosatom, has blocked that. 

Orban reiterated in an interview that sanctions on nuclear energy "must obviously be vetoed".

Amid war, fault lines show ahead of Central European summit

BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) — A summit of four Central European leaders in Slovakia on Thursday could be set to redefine a regional alliance that’s under strain from diverging approaches to the war in Ukraine.

Fault lines within the bloc known as the Visegrad Four — Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary — have appeared in recent months over Hungary’s lukewarm support for Ukraine amid Russia’s invasion, which has alienated Budapest’s populist government from some of its strongest regional allies.

BUDAPEST, October 17. /TASS/: EU foreign ministers made a decision during the meeting in Luxembourg to carry out a training mission for Ukrainian servicemen, but Hungary does not consider it a good idea and will not take part in it, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said during a press conference, streamed by the Hungarian TV.

"A decision was made today that the EU will carry out a training mission for soldier of Ukrainian army," Szijjarto said, adding that Hungary did not support this decision.

Hungary's FM to discuss peace, energy in Moscow

BUDAPEST, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- Peter Szijjarto, Hungary's minister of foreign affairs and trade, said here on Tuesday that he will travel to Moscow this Thursday to deliver a strong message of peace and to discuss ways to ensure Hungary's energy supplies.

He will be there to participate in the event "Russian Energy Week".
