India: 17-year-old Dalit girl gang-raped in UP

Muzaffarnagar, Mar 18 (PTI) A 17-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly raped by five youths in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district, police said Monday.

The accused also recorded a video of their act, they said.

The incident took place in Muzaffarnagar's Phulat village under Ratenpuri police station on Sunday, they added.

India: Huge cache of explosives seized in Maha; one held

Nashik, Mar 18 (PTI) A huge cache of explosives, including over 2,000 gelatin sticks and a number of detonators, was seized from a van in Nashik district of Maharashtra, police said on Monday.

The vehicle driver was arrested for allegedly carrying the explosives illegally, Jaykheda police station's assistant police inspector Ganesh Gurav said.

Indian army soldie killed, 3 others injured in J-K's Rajouri

Jammu, Mar 18 (PTI) An Army soldier was killed and three others injured as Pakistan violated the ceasefire for the second consecutive day along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district on Monday, officials said.

The incident occurred in Keri Battal forward area and further details are awaited, they said.

Kashmir: IAS Shah Faesal launched his political party

Srinagar; 17 March 2019: Former IAS officer Shah Faesal has launched his political party the 'Jammu and Kashmir Peoples' Movement,' today.

Former Vice-President of the JNU Students' Union (JNUSU), Shehla Rashid, also joined Faesal’s party.

3 killed, 6 injured as blast hits passenger train in SW Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, March 17 (Xinhua) -- At least three people were killed and six others injured on Sunday as a bomb blast hit a passenger train in Nasirabad district of Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province, local police said.

District Police Officer Irfan Bashir told media that some unknown miscreants planted an improvised explosive device at the railway track and attacked a passenger train named Jaffar Express in Rabbi Area of Dera Murad Jamali region in Nasirabad.

Russia to respond to new EU sanctions over Kerch Strait incident

MOSCOW, March 16 (Xinhua) -- The Russian Foreign Ministry said Saturday that it would respond to the European Union (EU)'s decision to impose new sanctions over the Kerch Strait incident, which shows disrespect for the country's right to protect its state border.

"This is an irresponsible way, which only encourages Kiev to continue the policy of provocations that poses a threat to the security of Russia and other states of the Black Sea region, including members of the European Union itself," the ministry said in a statement.

India: 2 Naxal terrorists arrested in Bijapur

Raipur, Mar 16 (PTI) Two Naxals were Saturday arrested from Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, police said.

The two were identified as Mangesh alias Hurra Majji (43) and Majji Chinna (38) and were held from Rengawaya village under Bedre police station limits, over 450 kilometres from here, an official said.

Security personnel were out on a search-cum-area domination operation in the forests of Waynar, Kodepalli and Rengawaya villages in Bedre when they received a tip-off on the presence of the two Naxals in the area, he said.

Indian PM Modi makes tall promises, but does nothing

Jaipur, Mar 16 (PTI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said on Saturday Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made false promises and had "zero achievements" to highlight.

Addressing public meetings in Jamwa Ramgarh and Bhandrej, Gehlot alleged that Modi had failed to fulfil the promises he had made in the 2014 Lok Sabha election and took wrong decisions.

The senior Congress leader claimed that demonetisation and the hastily-implemented goods and services tax were among the decisions that did not benefit the people.
