KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 30 (NNN-BERNAMA) — The 15-day visa-free stay in Malaysia next year that has been extended by the government for tourists from China and India is expected to further enhance the country’s attraction as a holiday destination.

Malaysian Inbound Tourism Association (MITA) president Uzaidi Udanis said many people in China and India travel abroad every year for their holiday and the visa exemption will attract more of them to come to Malaysia.

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 27 (NNN-BERNAMA) — Visit Malaysia 2020 which will be launched in a few days, continues to be actively promoted, with the aim of receiving 30 million foreign tourists and contributing to the tourism industry with earnings of RM100 billion.

Tourists from Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Brunei and China are expected, along with visitors from Europe and the Middle East, said Tourism Malaysia director-general Datuk Musa Yusof, in an interview with Bernama recently.

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 26 (NNN-BERNAMA) – Imported cold rolled coils of iron or non-alloy steel with a width of more than 1300mm from China, Japan, South Korea and Vietnam will now be subjected to anti-dumping duties following the conclusion of an investigation by the government on claims by local industry that the products were being dumped in Malaysia.

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 25 (NNN-BERNAMA) – The Malaysian economy is expected to experience a better growth in Feb to Apr, 2020.

The Malaysian Statistics Department, said that, the leading index, which predicts the economic direction, showed a better performance in Oct, expanded 1.4 percent from Sept.

The main contributors to the increase were real imports of other basic precious and other non-ferrous metal, real imports of semi-conductors.

KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) - Iran, Malaysia, Turkey and Qatar are considering trading among themselves in gold and through a barter system as a hedge against any future economic sanctions on them, Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said on Saturday.

At the end of an Islamic summit in Malaysia, Mahathir praised Iran and Qatar for withstanding economic embargoes and said it was important for the Muslim world to be self-reliant to face future threats.

Underscoring that this should become a priority, he said Muslim countries must be more involved in the conversation on this matter.

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 20 (NNN-BERNAMA) — Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he is open to the idea of a unified cryptocurrency for Muslim countries.

As a matter of fact, Dr Mahathir added, Malaysia had mooted the idea of a common currency for Islamic nations a long time ago, but the big powers had then stood in the way of that proposal.

The deals included the areas of youth exchange, food security, media collaboration, defence and security.
