Egypt: Death toll in Sudan clashes up to 425, over 2,000 people injured — doctors

CAIRO, April 30. /TASS/: The number of people killed in clashes between the armed forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan has risen to 425, while 2,091 people were injured, the country’s Doctors Central Committee reported on Sunday.

"The number of civilians killed since the beginning of clashes has risen to 425, while the number of wounded - to 2,091," Al Jazeera TV channel cited the organization as saying. Moreover, 16 hospitals have been bombarded since the start of the conflict, doctors added.

Israel: Huge rally pushes back at judicial reform protests

JERUSALEMApril 30 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Tens of thousands of Israelis have rallied in Jerusalem in support of controversial plans by the far-right government to reform the judiciary.

It was the biggest demonstration of its kind yet. Plans include curbing the Supreme Court and giving the government control over the appointment of judges.

Israeli major disciplined for wearing uniform to political protest

JERUSALEM, April 30 (Reuters) - An Israeli army officer was removed from his post on Sunday for attending a political protest in uniform, the first such case during a crisis over the government's planned judicial overhaul that has stirred rancour within the military ranks.

Local media identified the officer as a major who was televised carrying a stretcher in a publicity stunt during a pro-government rally that was convened on Thursday in an attempt to off-set months of demonstrations against the reforms.

Turkish president makes public appearance at tech fair after stomach illness

KHARTOUM, April 30 (Xinhua) -- The conflict in Sudan entered a third week on Saturday despite a 72-hour ceasefire extension reached a day earlier.

On early Saturday, the capital of Khartoum and its adjacent cities, Bahri and Omdurman, were hit by air strikes, anti-aircraft weaponry, and artillery.

Iran’s Parliament sacks minister over alleged mismanagement

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran’s Parliament voted Sunday to fire the country’s industries minister over alleged mismanagement amid widespread dissatisfaction with the government.

Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf said 162 of 272 lawmakers present voted in favor of dismissing Reza Fatemi Amin. The chamber has 290 seats. Fatemi Amin survived a previous impeachment in 2022.

The decision came following discussion among lawmakers and government officials who questioned the minister.

Emergency aid supplies reach Sudan, as fighting sputters on

CAIRO (AP) — An aircraft carrying eight tons of emergency medical aid landed Sunday in Sudan to resupply hospitals devastated by more than two weeks of fighting between forces loyal to rival generals.

The supplies are enough to treat hundreds of wounded, as the civilian death toll from the countrywide violence topped 400. The conflict erupted on April 15 between the nation’s army and its paramilitary force, and threatens to thrust Sudan into a raging civil war.
