NEW YORK (AP) — After three years, the pandemic-era freeze on student loan payments will end in late August.

It might seem tempting to just keep not making payments, but the consequences can be severe, including a hit to your credit score and exclusion from future aid and benefits.

More than 40 million Americans will have to start making federal student loan payments again at the end of the summer under the terms of a debt ceiling deal approved by Congress.

USA: Progress on disability rights risks going in reverse: UN chief

UNITED NATIONS, Jun 13 (APP): UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Tuesday warned that “cascade of crises” is putting global progress towards ensuring the rights of persons with disabilities in danger.

Addressing a conference to take stock of action since the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) 17 years ago, he urged countries to “do much, much better” to achieve greater inclusion and accessibility.

USA: Body recovered from rubble of Philadelphia I-95 highway collapse

PHILADELPHIA, June 12 (Reuters) - Human remains were recovered on Monday from a fallen overpass on Interstate 95 in Philadelphia as crews removed concrete debris from the site of a fiery weekend highway collapse that closed a stretch of one of the busiest traffic corridors along the U.S. East Coast.

The section of I-95 was shut down in both directions after a tanker truck hauling gasoline caught fire on Sunday, causing the concrete to buckle and collapse. Authorities have not said precisely how the fuel was ignited.

22 U.S. soldiers injured in helicopter mishap in Syria

WASHINGTON, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Twenty-two U.S. service members were injured and receiving treatment after a "helicopter mishap" in northeastern Syria on Sunday, U.S. Central Command said in a press release published on Tuesday.

Dated Monday in its text, the release said the soldiers sustained various degrees of injuries from the incident, and 10 were "evacuated to higher care facilities" for treatment.

"The cause of the incident is under investigation, although no enemy fire was reported," U.S. Central Command said in the release.

Trump will face judge in historic court appearance over charges he hoarded secret documents
