India: Lean business on first day as malls reopen in Delhi

New Delhi, Jun 8 (PTI) Business remained lean as malls and shopping centres in the national capital re-opened on Monday after more than two months, with only a few people stepping out to shop and eat.

Though most of the shops, offices and restaurants reopened at Saket's Select City Walk, one of the prominent malls in the city, only a handful of shoppers visited it in the initial hours.

The focus remained on the hourly disinfection of the common areas, contact-less shopping and physical distancing to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus.

UK travel quarantine rules come into effect

LONDON, June 8 (NNN-AGENCIES) — New rules requiring all people arriving in the UK to self-isolate for 14 days have come into effect.

Those arriving by plane, ferry or train – including UK nationals – will have to provide an address where they will self-isolate and face fines of up to £1,000 if they do not follow the rules.

Home Secretary Priti Patel said the laws were designed “to prevent a second wave” of coronavirus.

But some industries have warned they will be severely impacted by the rules.

Israel airliner uses Sudan’s airspace, while another flight lands for the first time

OPEC, allies agree to extend deep output cuts through July

VIENNA, June 7 (NNN-AGENCIES) — OPEC members, led by Saudi Arabia, and other key oil producers agreed to extend historic output cuts through July, as oil prices tentatively recover and coronavirus lockdowns ease.

The 13-member cartel and its allies, notably Russia, decided to extend by a month deep May and June cuts agreed in April to boost prices, the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries said in a statement.

Prices had plummeted owing to falling demand as countries around the world imposed strict lockdowns to stop the spread of the new coronavirus.

Portuguese PM Announces Resumption Of Air Traffic From June 15

LISBON, June 6 (NNN-XINHUA) – Portuguese Prime Minister, Antonio Costa, announced, air traffic routes will be resumed from June 15, with all the hygiene and safety rules guaranteed by Portuguese airports.

In a visit to Lisbon Airport, Costa said, “It is very important to be prepared, as from June 15, routes will be reactivated, borders will be opened and a joint effort will be made in the European Union, so that tourism can resume its activity in full.”

Iraq Signs Two-Year Deal To Continue Importing Electricity From Iran

BAGHDAD, June 6 (NNN-NINA) – Iraq signed a two-year contract to extend the import of electricity from neighbouring Iran, the Ministry of Electricity said, Friday.

According to the agreement, Iraq will continue to import electricity from Iran, for the remaining period of 2020 and 2021, said Ahmed al-Abadi, the ministry’s spokesman, in a statement.

Earlier, Iranian Minister of Energy, Reza Ardakanian, said, an Iranian delegation signed, on Wednesday, in Baghdad, an agreement with Iraqi Electricity Ministry, to extend exporting electricity to Iraq.

Lebanese Gov’t To Inject 400 Million USD To Support Industry, Agriculture

BEIRUT, June 6 (NNN-NNA) – Lebanese Industry Minister, Imad Hoballah, said on Friday that, the government will inject 400 million U.S. dollars, to support the country’s industry and agriculture.

This support will come in cooperation with the Investment Development Authority of Lebanon.

Lebanon’s economy has for long been dependent on the services sectors, such as tourism and the banking sector, causing problems to the country, that has to rely on importing foreign products for consumption.

Turkey to gradually resume international flights to 40 countries

05 June 2020; MEMO: Turkey’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Adil Karaismailoglu, said yesterday that Ankara will gradually resume international flights to 40 countries from 10 June.

In a statement, the minister said the first international flights will transport passengers to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Bahrain, Bulgaria, Qatar and Greece.
