Palestine Condemns Israeli Threats To Sever Ties With PA

Israel

RAMALLAH, Sept 13 (NNN-WAFA) – Palestine, yesterday condemned “ongoing Israeli threats” to sever ties with the Palestinian Authority (PA), if Israel is hauled to the international courts.

In a press statement, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry said, “Israel warned us, all the time, not to file war crime charges against Israel’s leaders and settlers.”

During a security conference held in Tel Aviv on Monday, Israel’s National Security Council Director, Tzachi Hanegbi warned that, “if any Israeli soldier is brought to justice in The Hague, Israel will sever its relationship with the PA,” indicating that “this step contradicts to all agreements signed between Israel and the PA.”

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry considered that Hanegbi’s remarks reflect Israel’s rebellion against international law and lack of recognition of international and legal legitimacy.

In the statement, the ministry also urged Hanegbi to acknowledge the existence of the occupation and crimes against the Palestinian people and stop them immediately.

The PA previously submitted three main files, including the settlements activities, Palestinian prisoners’ cause, and the Israeli war against Gaza in 2014, to the International Criminal Court to hold Israel accountable.
