11 October 2023; MEMO: Germany and Canada this morning announced that they had sent planes to evacuate their nationals from Israel, according to Israeli media reports.
Yedioth Ahronoth quoted Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly saying that military aircraft are expected to evacuate Canadian citizens from Israel in the coming days.
Jolie added: “We are planning to begin the assisted departure of Canadians from Tel Aviv. We are also working on additional options for those who cannot reach the airport in Tel Aviv.”
In a related context, the airline Lufthansa announced four special rescue flights that will be chartered to evacuate German citizens from Israel, according to the same source.
At dawn on Saturday, Hamas and other Palestinian factions in Gaza launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood in response to the “continuing attacks by the occupation forces and Israeli settlers against the Palestinian people, their property and sanctities, especially Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem.”
Israeli occupation forces responded by launching ‘Operation Swords of Iron’ and continue to intensely bomb civilian areas in Gaza, which is inhabited by 2.3 million Palestinians who have no one to turn to for safety.
