Mathura, Aug 29 (PTI) A 65-year-old man was held for the bid to rape a minor by the Kosi Kalan police here, barely three hours after the lodging of the complaint, an official said on Thursday.
The incident had allegedly taken place on August 24 and the FIR was registered against the accused on Wednesday.
"On the basis of an input received from a reliable source, 65-year-old Bhanvar Singh, a resident of Survari village, was nabbed on Wednesday night," DSP Jagdish Kali Raman said.
Finding the five-year-old girl alone, Bhanvar Singh took her to a lonely area, the FIR said.
According to the complaint, on finding the villagers approaching towards him, he escaped.
The FIR was filed on Wednesday evening and the accused was nabbed within three hours, the DSP said, adding that the accused was sent to judicial custody.
