KANPUR: Unnao will soon equip with a Bio-gas CNG unit. The agricultural wastes shall be used to produce the gas. The crop growing farmers will provide the raw materials to the unit to be set up along the highway extending between Kanpur and Lucknow.
The vehicles running along the highways will obtain CNG filling stations.
Panchayati Raj Vibhag, Udyan Vibhag, Gram Vikas Vibhag, Prayavaran Vibhag, Mandi Samiti and NABARD will extend its assistance in Bio CNG production. There is a target of producing five tonnes of CNG every day that will require 120 tonnes of agro-wastes.
Monthly production goal has been fixed from 30 to 35 tonnes. The UP State BioEnergy Development Board was to provide technical assistance.
The work on this project has been initiated. Discussion with the farmers is also underway, said PS Ojha, co-ordinator, UP BioEnergy Development Board.
