An inspection was carried out in the district’s every polling booths on Sunday. During the check-up of the document, the district magistrate Vijay Viswas Pant found several irregularities in the voting list. An action was taken against as many as 8 BLOs including one supervisor in Cantt and Kalyanpur assemblies’ constituencies respectively.
The residents have been given one more chance to enrol themselves as the voters. But the BLOs are not extending their full support to them. Instead of helping them in making the procedure easier they are compelling them to face unnecessary troubles.
When one reaches the polling booth to deposit the form, the flabby BLO surprisingly taunts by saying you have not applied for enrolment in so many years of your life. When one demands Form-8, the answer comes, ‘Better go to another polling booth.’ The hapless resident wastes time in only running.
‘That is the main problem of common people not getting themselves enrolled’, said one resident adding that the opportunity for inclusion of the general people’s names in the voter’s list seemed to be useless if the BLOs were uncooperative with them. Such conduct was experienced at the polling booth in Cantonment area.
