KANPUR: In order to lessen the pollution in the city areas, the Kanpur region of Uttar Pradesh State Roadways Transport Corporation has taken a decision to run electric buses on its roads.
Although one air-conditioned bus and two non-air-conditioned electric buses were already plying on trial from Kanpur to Lucknow yet there was ample plan to bring electric buses on the city roads from the next year.
Informing about this new step, Atul Jain, Regional Manager, Kanpur Region, UPSRTC, said that there was every possibility of running electric buses from the New Year.
This will stop one hundred diesel or CNG buses. A recharging point will be set up at Fazalganj Bus Depot where as many as 30 buses will be electrically recharged in one go. One bus runs 200 Kms in recharge of six hours. A private company will be engaged for the upkeep of the electrical buses
