KANPUR: Nearly twenty years ago there came a Hollywood film 'Cast Away' which shows how the desperate actor survives and returns home. Though this film is said to have depicted a real story, a true story of a man in Chakeri who was assumed to be dead returns home alive.
Not even have completed the age of 40, the man from Ompurwa locality was not in touch with the family members since August 2. He left his house after quarrelling with his wife over an issue. He had left the city as he later told.
When his whereabouts were not learnt, his family members registered a missing complaint at Chakeri PS on Aug 5.
Incidentally, the police informed the family on the same day that Colonelganj police had found an unidentified, partially burnt body. It looked identical to the missing man's body. The missing man's brother identified it. Even the funeral was done in accordance with religious rites on Aug 5 after post mortem and other police formalities.
To everyone's surprise, the supposedly dead man returned home at 11 pm on Friday. He himself was dazed to hear of his funeral by the family.
Obviously, his family had misidentified a body found in an orphanage under Colonelganj police station on Aug 5. The police now hope to reach the relatives of the dead man through the DNA test.
