Kanpur: Dilapidated roads reflect off the dreary clout in the accessible broader space. Roads above seven meters in width are being transferred to PWD by the KMC.
Pit roads reflect a bad impression, it cannot be altogether rejected. Possibly this may be a strong reason to hand over all those poor roads above 7-metre wide with a length of 150-Km to the State Public Works Department.
Under the state government's orders, the KMC has been entrusting its poorly maintained roads to the PWD for its proper upkeep.
According to Kailash Singh, Chief Engineer, Nagar Nigam, there are seven roads which go to the PWD for adequate maintenance.
Meanwhile, the PWD has declared of taking as many as 249 roads under its supervision and the Department's executive engineer said maintenance work on the ceded roads would start soon.
However, the Nagar Nigam provided a list of 339 roads to the PWD but a total of 90 roads were found to be below the width of 7 metres by the PWD.
It has also been reported that the PWD would proceed to make a fresh survey of the roads.
With the transfer of roads under PWD the city's maximum roads would come under its jurisdiction now, as has been put in.
Of all the seven roads ceded to the PWD the road extending from Galla Godam to VIP Road in Lal Bangla comes under Jajmau area.
