RAMALLAH, Oct 3 (NNN-WAFA) – Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, on Friday declared an extension of the state of emergency by 30 days, in the Palestinian territories, in a bid to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. The extension starts today.
In a presidential decree, Abbas urged the concerned authorities “to continue to take all necessary measures to face the dangers, resulting from the virus, protect public health, and achieve security and stability.”
Since the outbreak of the virus in Mar in Palestine, Abbas issued eight presidential decrees of extending the state of emergency to fight the pandemic.
Meanwhile, Palestinian Health Minister, Mai al-Kaila, said earlier that, there is a decrease in the daily numbers of fatalities in the Palestinian territories.
The health ministry on Friday reported 545 new COVID-19 cases and three new deaths, bringing the total number of cases to 51,607, and the death toll to 379 in the Palestinian territories.
