RAMALLAH, Oct 17 (NNN-WAFA) – Dozens of Palestinians were wounded, by rubber-coated metal bullets and tear gas, in clashes with Israeli soldiers, in the West Bank yesterday, medical sources, said.
Witnesses said that, clashes broke out when the Israeli army dispersed the anti-settlement protests, held every Friday, in several villages in the West Bank.
Medical sources said, Israeli soldiers wounded three Palestinians with rubber-coated metal bullets, in the village of Burqa, in the east of the city of Ramallah.
Dozens suffered suffocation after inhaling tear gas, the sources added.
Israeli soldiers assaulted dozens of Palestinians, including farmers, who joined a campaign for defending the right to pick up olives in the village, according to witnesses.
“Since the beginning of this year, the Israeli army has uprooted 1,700 olive trees and set fire to 1,000 others in the West Bank,” said Walid Assaf, head of the National Committee to Resist the Wall and Settlements, organiser of the campaign.
A total of 100 Israeli assaults on Palestinian farmers were recorded during the same period, he added.
