KHARTOUM, Jan 14 (NNN-SUNA) – The South Sudan mediation Wednesday held a meeting at the Republican Palace with the signatory parties of Juba peace agreement for Sudan.
The meeting was headed by the Advisor of South Sudan President for Security Affairs and head of the mediation, Tut Gulwak, in the presence of the Transitional Sovereignty Council members, Lt. Gen. Shams-Eddin Kabbashi, and Mohamed Hassan Al-Ta’ayeshi, and a number of the leaders of the peace agreement signatory movements.
Gulwak said in a press statement that the meeting discussed the current arrangements for implementing the peace agreement and all the issues related to it.
He said that he had received extensive briefing from Kabbashi, on the implementation of the agreement and the work of the joint committees between the parties on the peace process.
Gulwak expressed his thanks and appreciation for the role of the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lt. Gen. Abdul-Fattah Al-Burhan, and his First Deputy, Lt. Gen, Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, and the transitional government headed by the Prime Minister Dr. Abdalla Hamdouk, for their concern and keenness to implement the Juba agreement for peace in Sudan.
He referred to the achievement in the formation of committees, their reception and their meetings with the leaders of the armed struggle movements in Khartoum.
Gulwak stated that his visit to Sudan comes in response to a directive of President Salva Kiir to follow up the peace file in Sudan.
He said that a meeting will be held Thursday with all the parties to the peace agreement to discuss their participation in legislative assemblies, the states and the central governments, indicating that the Sudanese citizens have waited for long for the good news to achieve their aspirations and hopes.
He indicated that all the signatory parties of the peace agreement will agree shortly to form the new government that will carry out its duties in addressing the citizens’ urgent issues.
