03 May 2021; MEMO: The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas has called for defying the Israeli eviction of Palestinian families in the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood in occupied Jerusalem, a statement has announced.
"Fighting Israeli plans is a national duty that requires all the Palestinians to take a firm position against it," Hamas's statement asserted, adding: "We are confident that the Palestinians will not save any effort to defend the holy city."
The statement added: "Today, we are facing the mentality of the Israeli gangs – the same mentality that chased the Palestinians, killed or displaced them from their homes during the Palestinian Nakba in 1948 when Al-Ja'ouni and Al-Sabbagh families were forced out of their homes in Yafa and obliged to live in Jerusalem."
Hamas continued: "The scene of injustice and cruelty practiced against Sheikh Jarrah's families and their displacement from their homes for the second time, as well as the displacement of children, women and the elderly, necessitate standing up carefully in front of this Zionist arrogance, and activating all forms of resistance to respond to the crimes of the occupation and settler gangs."
The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement called on the Arab League and the United Nations to take firm stances towards: "This fascist policy of the Israeli occupation government that includes forcing Jerusalemites out of their homes and taking their property in front of the eyes of the whole world."
Concluding its statement, Hamas lamented the world that: "Keeps watching the flagrant and racist Israeli crimes that contradict international law and conventions and remains silent."
