24 Dec 2021; MEMO: An Egyptian medical delegation has arrived in the occupied Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing, the enclave's Ministry of Health announced yesterday.
In an official statement, the ministry said that the delegation included "ten medical and surgical specialists, such as cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, orthopaedics, spine and surgery, deformities and limb reconstruction."
"We are honoured to receive a medical delegation from the sisterly Egypt, who arrived to perform a number of surgical operations for the sick and wounded," the statement added.
Palestinians in Gaza are still healing from the physical and mental wounds of the latest Israeli assault on the enclave in May. At least 254 Palestinians, including 66 children, 39 women, and 17 elderly people were killed in the 11-day assault. More than 1,900 were wounded, including 380 children, 540 women, and 91 elderly.
