Kanpur: In a horrific incident, a woman was allegedly molested by her husband and his friends after her family could not fulfil the dowry demand. This incident was reported from the Chakeri area here.
A case has been registered against victim's husband and his friends at Chakeri police station here on Wednesday.
The case was reportedly filed by the victimised woman's family.
The woman had been wedded to the accused in March of the year 2020. She alleged that her in-laws used to demand a car and Rs 2 lakh as a dowry since she got married to the accused, according to a news report.
The survivor further alleged that her in-laws and husband used to lock her in a room when their demand was not met.
The woman claimed one day she was gang raped by her husband and his three friends. "When I defied he even tried to set me ablaze by sprinkling petrol upon me," the woman allegedly claimed.
"We have registered a case based on a complaint and action is being taken," the report quoted Shailendra Singh, SHO, Chakeri police station.
