Kanpur: There was surfaced negligence in the purchase of sports equipment in the City's 21 government schools regulated under the National Secondary Education Campaign.
The DDR, Kanpur Division Prem Prakash Maurya said that an inspection was conducted of the schools coming under the RAMSA. Various points have come out. There are points which fall under the power of audit. The DIOS can furnish details about it.
The purchase was completed without a tender. The process was not attended to.
An internal investigation has been initiated. DDR conducted an inspection, in which several errors were found. A letter has been forwarded to the District Inspector Of Schools.
For purchases of above 20 thousand rupees, the purchase should be done through the portal. Schools have not purchased items through the portal.
After checking the purchase register of sporting goods, doubt was sensed. All the goods were bought in one place and the payment was made by cheque.
The money that came into the account for the project was sent directly to the principals and headmasters. It was paid by cheque. Most cheques were made out in one name. This is why doubts came up, as reported.
As many as 13 high schools and 08 intermediate schools operated under Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan These schools obtain money every year to buy sports equipment under the district project.
This money is given to the district project officer's account or the joint account of the district school inspector and the assistant accounting officer. The money is given to schools to buy materials based on the rules.
