Kanpur: Screaming and wailing enveloped Kortha village of Narwal Tehsil here. When six dead bodies were kept at the house courtyard. It was a heart wrenching scene.
As many as 26 people had lost their lives in the village simultaneously. A tractor trolley returning from Mundan overturned near a place, about two and a half km from the village.
The Mundan ceremony of Abhi, son of Raju Nishad of the village, was on Saturday at Chandrika Devi temple.
More than 50 women of the village had gone on a tractor trolley to attend the rites. Raju was driving the tractor himself.
The accident occurred when the trolley overturned around 7.30 pm, in which 26 people lost their lives and more than 10 were injured.
After the post-mortem, the police handed over all the bodies to their families at 6 am. There was an outcry after the 26 dead bodies on about ten ambulances reached the village.
Heavy police force and PAC were reportedly deployed in the village since the morning. ADM Finance and ASP kept managing the serious situation.
