Palestinians Seek To Create Broad Int’l Front To Resume Peace Talks With Israel

Mahmoud Abbas

RAMALLAH, Jul 26 (NNN-WAFA) – The Palestinian leadership is making efforts to create a broad international front, to resume the peace process with Israel, which has been stalled since 2014, said a senior Palestinian official, yesterday.

The resumption of the stalled peace talks with Israel “should be based on implementing the international resolutions and the Arab peace initiative,” Majdi Al-Khaldi, a diplomatic advisor to Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, told the radio station, Voice of Palestine.

“The Palestinian position is clear and known to all international parties,” Al-Khaldi said, referring to Abbas’s visits to several countries “to advance the political track and prevent any deterioration.”

He called for an international front that agrees and coordinates under the umbrella of the UN, to implement international law by ending the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories.

Abbas will also seek, during his current visit to Türkiye and then to Egypt at the end of July, “to strengthen the Arab position to confront these measures taken by Israel,” he said.
