02 August 2023; MEMO: Tunisian President Kais Saied last night sacked Prime Minister Najla Bouden and appointed a former official in the Central Bank, Ahmed Hachani, as her successor.

No reason was given for Saied's decision, but local media highlighted Saied's dissatisfaction with shortages in commodities in local markets, particularly the lack of bread in state-subsidised bakeries.

Tunisian President Kais Saied said on Tuesday that there is "no turning back" on the reform plan he adopted to improve the situation in Tunisia.

This came during a visit to a local neighbourhood in the capital, Tunis, on the 66th Republic Day.

"We are moving forward and not going backwards," Saied told bystanders.

Advocacy group Amnesty International said today that the Tunisian President Kais Saied's two-year-long power grab has "dramatically undermined" human rights in the country.

TUNIS, Jul 21 (NNN-TAP) – Saudi Arabia, yesterday, signed agreements with Tunisia, to provide 500 million U.S. dollars to help finance Tunisia’s state budget.

In the presence of Tunisian Prime Minister, Najla Bouden Romdhane, the agreements were signed by Tunisian Finance Minister, Sihem Namsia and her Saudi counterpart, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan, at the government headquarters in Tunis.

The agreements included the provision of a soft loan of 400 million dollars and a grant worth 100 million dollars to support the Tunisian economy.

20 July 2023; MEMO: Tunisia has borrowed $87.1 million from the African Development Bank (AfDB) to support the country's grain production, Anadolu has reported. The loan agreement was signed by Economy and Planning Minister Samir Saied and AfDB Deputy Director General for North Africa Region, Malinne Blomberg.

08 July 2023; MEMO: The Basic Education Union in Tunisia denounced the decision by the Minister of Education to dismiss 150 school principals from their positions, considering it a "targeting of union work."

According to Anadolu Agency, this came in a press conference held by the union's general secretary, Nabil Hawashi, on Friday in the capital, Tunis.

TUNIS, July 2 (Xinhua) -- Tunisia has foiled 65 illegal immigration attempts to cross the Mediterranean Sea to Italy, the Tunisian National Guard said on Sunday in a statement.

The statement, posted on its Facebook page, said Tunisia's maritime guard thwarted these illegal immigration attempts between June 27 and June 29, and rescued 2,068 illegal immigrants from sinking boats during these operations.
