KUALA LUMPUR, May 1 (NNN-BERNAMA) — Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana), the operator of the Rapid Rail, stage bus and the Rapid Ferry services, will revert to the normal operating hours of 6 am to midnight when the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) takes effect on Monday.

This followed Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s announcement today of the government’s intention to reopen the nation’s economic sector in stages from May 4, subject to tight conditions and procedures.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 1 (NNN-BERNAMA) — Almost all economic sectors and business activities in Malaysia will be allowed to resume operations starting May 4, subject to the terms and the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) set by the authorities, said Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

He said the Economic Action Council, the National Security Council and the Cabinet had discussed on ways to balance between the need to revive the country’s economy and curbing the COVID-19 pandemic.

PUTRAJAYA, May 1 (NNN-BERNAMA) — The Malaysian government will implement the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), with most economic and social activities allowed to resume on May 4, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said. 

He said this decision was taken after two of the six strategies adopted by the government to contain the COVID-19 pandemic and build resilience through the Prihatin Economic Stimulus Package have yielded positive results. 

KUALA LUMPUR, April 29 (NNN-BERNAMA) — More than 70 per cent of COVID-19 death cases in Malaysia had comorbidities of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), said an exercise medicine expert Prof Dr Lee Chee Pheng.

He said the risk of contracting COVID-19 is higher in people with weak immune defences and could further be compromised in chronic conditions such as heart and lung diseases as well as diabetes.

GERIK, April 28 (NNN-BERNAMA) — Deputy Health Minister Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali was fined the maximum amount of RM1,000 in default one month’s jail by the Magistrate’s Court here today for breaching the Movement Control Order (MCO) by attending a lunch event two weeks ago.

Also fined the same amount were Perak executive councillor for education, human capital development, non-governmental organisation (NGO) and civil society, Razman Zakaria, and 13 others.

KUALA LUMPUR, April 23 (NNN-BERNAMA) — Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has directed the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning Unit (EPU), and the Prime Minister’s Department to formulate a comprehensive Economic Recovery Plan for the short, medium and long term.

He said the plan was aimed at ensuring the economic activities could be revived quickly after the Movement Control Order (MCO) period has ended.

KUALA LUMPUR, April 22 (NNN-BERNAMA) — All Malaysia Airlines passengers are now required to bring and wear their own protective masks effective April 23 (Thursday) at touch-points such as check-in, boarding in the aircraft cabin, disembarkation and collection of baggage on arrival to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

KUALA LUMPUR, April 21 (NNN-BERNAMA) — Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today recorded his appreciation to Malaysian frontline workers for their tireless efforts in combating the COVID-19 pandemic and in doing so bringing world recognition.

NEW DELH, April 19 (Bernama) — A Malindo Air special flight on Saturday evacuated 179 people, mostly Malaysian citizens, from India and Sri Lanka amid the coronavirus curbs on travel.

The plane carried 97 passengers, including an infant and a few permanent residents of Malaysia, from Chennai in the afternoon and flew to Colombo to pick up 82 Malaysians from there, a person familiar with the rescue flight said.

NILAI, April 17 (NNN-BERNAMA) — The quarantine process imposed on 30 Malaysians who returned here from Spain, United Kingdom and Indonesia on April 2 has ended and they were allowed to go home today.

These students were quarantined for 14 days at the Higher Education Leadership Academy (AKEPT) in Bandar Enstek here before making their way home at 9 a.m. today.

Fifteen of them had returned from Indonesia, 14 from Spain, and one from the United Kingdom. Of the total, 11 were men and 19 women.
