USA: Utah man suspected of threatening President Joe Biden shot and killed as FBI served warrant

PROVO, Utah (AP) — An armed Utah man accused of making violent threats against President Joe Biden was shot and killed by FBI agents hours before the president landed in the state Wednesday, authorities said.

Special agents were trying to serve a warrant on the home of Craig Deleeuw Robertson in Provo, south of Salt Lake City, when the shooting happened at 6:15 a.m., the FBI said in a statement.

USA: Utah man who killed family was investigated by child agency

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Child protective services had opened an investigation of a Utah man over alleged child abuse and threats to his family just weeks before he killed seven of his family members and then himself, new documents reveal.

Caseworkers were at the Haight house in the small town of Enoch on Dec. 19, two weeks before Michael Haight fatally shot his wife, their five children and his wife’s mother before killing himself, show the Utah Division of Child and Family Services case documents obtained by the Deseret News through a public records request.

USA: 8 found fatally shot in Utah home, including 5 children

ENOCH, Utah (AP) — A southern Utah community was struggling for answers on Thursday after police found eight people from one family, including five children, shot to death in the small town of Enoch.

Police sent officers to check on them on Wednesday and found the family dead from gunshot wounds. Officials did not immediately say why they went to the home.

“At this time, we do not believe there is a threat to the public or that there are any suspects at large,” officials said in a press release, without providing details

US: F-35 crashes at air force base in Utah state; pilot ejected safely

SALT LAKE CITY (Utah, US), Oct 20 (NNN-Xinhua) — An F-35 crashed at the Hill Air Force Base in the US state of Utah at the north end of the runway Wednesday evening, with the pilot hospitalized after ejection, military authorities said.

According to a tweet from the 388th Fighter Wing, the accident occurred when the unidentified pilot was on a routine training mission. The combat unit flies the F-35 for the United States Air Force and operates the Utah Test and Training Range.

Colorado River cuts set to disrupt farming in American West

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The U.S. government on Tuesday is expected to announce water cuts to states that rely on the Colorado River as drought and climate change leave less water flowing through the river and deplete the reservoirs that store it.

Farmers in central Arizona will largely shoulder the cuts, as they did this year.
