India: Supersonic cruise missile BrahMos test fired

Balasore (Odisha), Jun 4 (PTI) Supersonic cruise missile BrahMos on Tuesday was test fired from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur in Odisha.

The anti-ship version of the missile was launched around noon from the launch complex-3 of the ITR, Defence Research and Development (DRDO) sources said.

India: AAP ministers hit ground to know people's problems

New Delhi, Jun 4 (PTI) With a few months left for assembly elections, Delhi Cabinet ministers, including Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, Tuesday hit the ground to know the problems of people and find viable solutions for them.

Sisodia, who also holds the education portfolio, visited several government schools in Prashant Vihar, Jauntipur, Ghevra and Nithari villages.

India: TRS sweeps rural local body polls in Tgana

Hyderabad,Jun 4 (PTI) The ruling Telagana Rashtra Samithi Tuesday swept the rural local body polls in Telangana, winning a majority of the zilla parishad territorial constituency and mandal parishad territorial constituency seats.

The main opposition Congress stood second, while the BJP demonstrated its presence in the rural areas.

India: Major reshuffle of IAS, IPS officers in AP

Amaravati, June 4 (PTI): In the first major rejig of the state administration since Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy became Chief Minister, the Andhra Pradesh government Tuesday night transferred several IAS and IPS officers.

In all, 49 IAS and six IPS were transferred in the reshuffle.

IAS officers who enjoyed key posts during the five-year tenure of Chandrababu Naidu, including his Special Chief Secretary Satish Chandra, have been left out without any posting for the time being.

India: J'khand CM inaugurates Haj House

Ranchi, Jun 4 (PTI) Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das inaugurated the Haj House here on Tuesday on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Inaugurating the Rs-50 crore Haj House, which can accommodate about 1,000 people for offering Namaaz, Das said his government had faith in winning the confidence of all the people.

"This is the reason that the state government has fulfilled an old demand of members of the Muslim community -- constructing a modern and grand Haj House," he said.

India: Kerala govt confirms Nipah virus, 86 under observation

Kochi, June 4 (PTI) A 23-year-old college student here has been confirmed to be infected with the Nipah virus while 86 others are under medical observation, Kerala Health Minister K K Shailaja Tuesday said.

The results of blood samples of the student, which were tested at the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune, have confirmed Nipah, she said.

Man infected with Nipah found in India's Kerala

NEW DELHI, June 4 (Xinhua) -- A 23-year-old man admitted in a private hospital in southern India state of Kerala was found tested positive for the deadly Nipah virus, officials said Tuesday.

The case was detected in Ernakulam district, about 213 km north of Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala.

Authorities have cautioned people to follow instructions from health department in wake of detection of the case.

India: Centre's move on language aimed at deceiving TN: Stalin

Chennai, Jun 3 (PTI) DMK president M K Stalin alleged on Monday that the Centre's move on dropping the clause on compulsory Hindi learning in the draft National Education Policy was aimed at deceiving Tamil Nadu and demanded an explanation over it.

He sought a categorical assurance that Hindi will not be thrust on the southern state.
