New Delhi, Dec 30 (PTI) Adani group on Friday gained full control of news broadcaster NDTV after it acquired most of the stake of founders, Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy, at a premium of almost 17 per cent over the rate it paid to minority shareholders of the firm.

The Adani Group now holds 64.71 per cent of New Delhi Television Ltd (NDTV), according to a regulatory filing.

NEW DELHI, Dec 26 (Reuters) - Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Monday said he sought India's help with implementing a "peace formula" in a phone call with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The conversation comes at a time when India is seeking to strengthen trade relations with Moscow while Western nations introduce new measures to limit Russia's funding of the war.

NEW DELHI, Dec 25 (Reuters) - At least 180 ethnic Rohingya stranded at sea for weeks after leaving Bangladesh in November are feared dead, as their rickety boat is thought to have sunk this month, the United Nations refugee agency (UNHCR) said.

Citing unconfirmed reports, the agency said the "unseaworthy" boat probably sank after it went missing in the sea.

"Relatives have lost contact," the UNHCR wrote on Twitter on Saturday. "Those last in touch presume all are dead."

NEW DELHI (AP) — Members of India’s main opposition Congress party and thousands of supporters walked into the capital on Saturday as part of a 5-month-long cross-country “unity march” seeking to challenge what they say is a “hate-filled” version of the country under the Hindu nationalist government.

Joined by thousands of party workers and senior leaders, the march led by Rahul Gandhi, an opposition leader of the Congress party and scion of the influential Gandhi family, entered New Delhi after passing through eight states.

NEW DELHI (AP) — India has begun randomly testing international passengers arriving at its airports for COVID-19, the country’s health minister said Thursday, citing an increase in cases in neighboring China.

Mansukh Mandaviya announced the new rule in Parliament, where he also urged state governments to increase surveillance for any new coronavirus variants and send samples of all positive cases to genome sequencing laboratories.

Mandaviya also asked the public to wear masks and maintain social distancing, even though there are no official mandates for either.

Kanpur: Harvinder Singh Lord, president of the Gurudwara Committee here, has been allegedly accused of misappropriating the donations of the gurudwara for years.

The Income Tax department has begun an inquiry into this serious matter.

According to the news sources, more than a dozen properties in the city were bought with money donated to the Gurudwara.

The matter surfaced only after several complaints alleging misappropriation of Gurudwara money were brought in.

NEW DELHI, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- Around 10 persons, including eight school children, died when the bus they were travelling in met with an accident in India's northeastern state of Manipur on Wednesday, confirmed a local senior cop.

The dead toll is feared to rise in the accident reported from Noney district of Manipur, according to media reports.

Many others were injured in the mishap. They have been admitted to a local government-owned hospital.

Kanpur:  A speeding truck driver hit the car strongly from behind fue to fog in Fatehpur. After the collision, the driver abandoned the truck and fled from the spot.

Injured are teacher Aditya Tiwari, 45, resident of Kashiram Colony, teacher Mithilesh Kumar, 48, resident of Navodaya Vidyalaya, Sarkandi, Pinki, and Shrikant Chaurasia, 38, resident of Purani Bindki.

Passers-by informed the police who reached the spot and admitted the three injured to the nearest CHC in 108 ambulances. Late they were referred to Hallet here.

NEW DELHI, Dec 17 (NNN-PTI) – India’s trade exhibited an impressive performance during Nov, as the country’s overall exports (merchandise and services combined) rose to 58.22 billion U.S. dollars in the month, showed the data, released by the federal Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

This was a rise of 10.97 percent compared to the same month last year.

Overall imports in Nov are estimated to be 69.33 billion dollars, exhibiting a growth of 5.6 percent over the same month of last year.

NEW DELHI, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- The death toll in the suspected toxic liquor consumption in the eastern Indian state of Bihar Saturday has risen to 81, state-run broadcaster All India Radio (AIR) said.

"The death toll in Bihar hooch tragedy has risen to 81," the broadcaster said. "Maximum (of) 74 deaths have been reported from Saran district as 15 more people succumbed to the consumption of spurious liquor in the district. Five people died in Siwan district, while two died in the Begusarai district."
